1974 MV Agusta 750 GT
SOLD
Engine# 214-0435, Frame# 214-0495
Perhaps the finest original 750GT MV Agusta ever sold, the 750GT is one of the rarest variants numbering approx 50 total models built. This particular example was delivered to Cosmopolitan Motors, kept in private collections sine 1974 retains every original part as delivered including the original tires!
The MV Agusta 750 GT was initially displayed at the 1971 Milan Show, alongside the prototype 750 SS. Although the 750 SS didn’t materialise, the 750 GT went into limited production during 1972. Some commentators have claimed the 750 GT was built out of left over 600 parts, but this is incorrect and the GT was more closely related to the 750 S. It also shared the 750 S engine and frame number sequence and the differences between the 750 S and GT were largely cosmetic. Although the MV Agusta historical website states 33 GTs were built, official factory records indicate 50 were produced, mostly in consecutive batches.
“Only one 750 GT with dual Scarab disc brakes went to the US where it was tested by Motorcycle World in October1974. This is the bike under investigation here; engine 214-0435, frame 2140495, and was built on 2/20/74. This has the crash bars and horns that were factory-fitted to 750 GT. These items were subsequently removed at some stage but the crash bar comes with the bike.” Ian Falloon
