Here we present a true first-year Z stripe Sport, in the past decade we have seen countless fake Z stripe sports presented for sale, some obvious some subtle as even the sellers/dealers don’t understand the rarity of the 750S “Z Stripe”
In 1972 the the 750 Sport was announced after the legendary first & second-place victory at Imola, a true sporting motorcycle with clip-on handlebars and stunning styling by Leopoldo Tartarini of Itlajet the 750 Sport was everything an Italian sporting bike should be.
This particular example was originally sold in Torino Italy in December 1972 and carries with it a copy of the original Italian registration. The Sport was sold first in 1988 to a German enthusiast and then to Achim Gier of Belgium who restored the bike with the highest attention to detail you see here. All the details present on this early sport, from the early Scarb brakes, early Marzocchi shock absorbers, and early fiberglass fuel tank and seat with the lock on the seat covering. An inspection was personally made by contributing historian and editor Ian Falloon and from his direct assessment we have ascertained this is one of the true early 750 Zstripes produced by Ducati.
