Vol. 2 No. 1
MARCH 23, 2022
When I was an apprentice mechanic I never could have imagined I would have the opportunity to work on and present so many amazing machines. I have the privilege of presenting another group of outstanding machines. From this unique 750SS, to friend and mentor Ian Falloon’s SFC, the amount of iconic motorcycles that continue to be offered to work on or present is nothing short of amazing.
Below you’ll find a Ducati 750SS, two Laverda SFCs, a 500-mile MV Agusta, and a custom BMW—just another day in the office.

1974 Ducati 750ss
One hell of a California hot rod
This unique Ducati 750SS was built by legendary southern California Ducati hot rod shop Woods Motor Shop. Jim Woods — a renowned Bevel engine builder and tuner — transformed the traditional green and silver color scheme by adding subtle gold and black pin-striping and Jim’s signature “Eagle” to the fuel tank.
So compelling are the original photos, receipts, and overall look of this green frame, that the current owner decided not to erase this chapter of its history, instead to acknowledge its uniqueness and southern California hot rod heritage.

1982 BMW 860LS CUSTOM
Regardless of the platform, connecting to passionate motorcyclists — like this bike’s new owner — who promptly took this gold LS to the dyno and it hit 51HP. The dyno tuner was so impressed because no other BMW they had put on had surpassed 46HP. Scott, the new owner, called me and we were both so excited by the results. I feel like I’ve made a new friend and that this special bike ended up in good hands.

1972 BMW R60/5
The toaster tank BMW is one of my favorite under-rated 70s motorcycles. It was so fun preparing this one for sale on Bring a Trailer that I actually ended up buying an R75/5 on Bring a Trailer for myself two weeks later—that I used to own. And if you’re actually reading this, you’re as crazy as I am. Read more on this bike here.

1974 LAVERDA SFC
My addiction to Laverda SFCs is not such a secret if you have followed the number of them I’ve worked on, sold, and rebuilt in the last 20 years. The northern Italian marquee Laverda is of a point of pride to maintain and if you are a denizen of the brand, you know it is more like a cult. And if you’re in the cult— we all know the first rule is you can’t talk about the cult. Buy this bike and become one of us.
