1997 Ducati 916 SPS
1994 was among Ducati’s most pivotal production years - and the 916 was Massimo Tamburini’s CRC derived masterpiece.
Celebrated in the Guggenheim Museum’s historic and best-ever attended exhibition; Art of the Motorcycle, as Ducati Racing division’s outrageous dominance in World Superbike competition, with no less than 4 WSB Championships in 1994-1996 and in 1998.
With a completely improved engine from the previous 916 SP generation, the 1997 SPS was the ultimate manifestation of the 916 line, enhanced to perfection for the street and limited in its availability.
Bike magazine wrote “Is the 916 sexy? Like no inanimate object has any right to be. It’s cliché-ridden, but it’s Italian, red, sculpted from sheer speed and Da Vinci nudes, demanding, expensive, sometimes cantankerous and it wears the soporific aphrodisiac of success effortlessly.”
This example is edition No. 54 of 404 1997 916 SPS’s.

“The Woods Bike”
New photos presenting the wonderful “Woods Bike” in all her glory.
This unique Ducati 750SS was built by legendary southern California Ducati hot rod shop, Woods Motor Shop. The Woods Bike was originally delivered to Storm’s Cycle Sales in Texas and first sold in 1975. In the mid-1980s, a subsequent owner commissioned Jim Woods to reinterpret and build this one-off 750SS custom. Woods — a renowned bevel engine builder and tuner — transformed the traditional green and silver color scheme by adding subtle gold and black pin-striping and Jim’s signature “eagle” to the fuel tank.
